Why food is not costly in U.S.?!

Question:

Why food is not costly in U.S.?

Answers:
we produce more food than anybody in the world. It is one of our biggest exports.

we have alot of it and a great economy, even though we are wasters we have a oretty good amount of food.

Because we are the best country in the world! And we have great farmers.

you can spend as much as you want to on a meal in the USofA. however we do have many choices of cheap meals, such as ramen noodles and macaroni and cheese. the basis for our relatively inexpensive food cost, is that we do have a large supply of food. our agriculture industry assures the availability of food to the public, we have many businesses which are in competition with each other to sell large amounts of food, and we also have a strong economy compared to many others around the world.

?? Where do you live??
How do you make that assumption ??
There are very few items in my store that are under $2.00 each.
A gallon of milk is more than that.
A small jar of peanut butter is over $2.00
One LB of frozen cut corn is $2.50+
A dozen tortillas is $2.00+

The primary reasons for the low cost of food in the US are 1) low population density - believe it or not, the US is quite empty. 2) We have high-efficiency farming and advanced plant strains with high yield grains. And finally, the soil in the US is fairly fertile. Add all of that to the fact that we have a strong economy to keep farmers at least minimally employed, and you have your answer.

Oh yes, one more thing, we have efficient processing and distribution so people can get fresh food from coast to coast in a timely manner.

I just came back from overseas, and the meals there are much less than here. Are you talkin about supermarket foods or restaurant type foods?

We do have a huge land mass suitable for farming so transportation and logistics of food wouldn't be that high.
