Why don't they like my food?!
Why don't they like my food?
No matter what I make or even BUY, no one but my family seems to really like it. I bought cupcakes, hardly anyone ate them. I MADE Red Velvet cupcakes, no one really likes those either - except my family. I bought baklava...they didn't like that either...What gives? Make or buy...doesn't matter.

They're not family.
I suggest you ask them why.
Maybe they figure ur not clean or something. If I think anyone is not clean or careless, I usually dont eat anything they have, whether they cooked it or just touched it. Some people's stuff ust aint safe to eat.
People might just be being polite, maybe they don't want to "eat you out of house and home".
Or maybe you should try something that everyone likes, like chocolate cake and see what they do then.
Maybe you're making an effort to show them YOU bought the food; sometimes making a show of what you buy or make will be something that makes others think twice and take a personal check against you.
Next time watch the people eating something you don't say anything about - see if they eat it or not or say anything or not; then you'll know if it's your choices or your own personality that people don't like on the table.
Good luck.
Many people are funny about others food. If they percieve you to be a poor housekeeper or not that clean (this is not an accusation, just a theory) they will avoid your food. I used to manage a community of 500 apartments. We knew which houses were "safe" to eat from and which ones' food gifts we would never touch. (I don't mean to offend. Everybody has their own ideas of what clean is).
Perhaps your selections are not mainstream tastes (what others outside your family prefer). I don't like red velvet cake or baklava.
What kind of seasoning are you using in your foods? Maybe it is just that the people you are trying to have try your food are not into change. You should ask what their favorite food is and decide what to make from there. I'm sure it has nothing to do with what you are making.
Picky family ;-) n
Maybe all the people you make food for are boring - or on diets...
My husband and I have a group of friends over every week and I used to go crazy making beautiful dips and cheeses and snacks or cakes and no one ate them. Now I just serve them a packet of chips. Though... they did pig out on my scones (english cake) with strawberry jelly and whipped cream. Try these...
1 cup thickened cream
3 cups all purpose (self raising flour)
1 cup lemonade.
Mix all ingredients together. Mix a bit more flour if its sticky. don't knead it too much - keep it springy. Gently roll or press to about 1 inch thick.
Cut circle shapes with glass dipped in flour.
bake on tray in oven until tops golden brown. they will rise and go fat.
slice in half and serve with jelly and whipped cream on top.
so good and easy and delicious
Maybe the problem isn't your food. How's about the situation. You should make more hospitable and friendly
Maybe you are just making or buying the wrong foods. When you visit them, do they put out food, and if they do what are the things they serve.?
Some people just feel uncomfortable eating in other peoples houses. Buy some instantly recognisable biscuits such as ginger nuts, chocolate chippies, or even one of those presentation boxes with orderly stacks of biscuits of different types.
Invite them to help themselves from the selection.
I wonder if it might be because people are so weight-conscious. You might try slicing some celery, carrots, red bell peppers and grape tomatoes, and serving with a dip. Everywhere I go lately, there are trays of fresh vegetables and platters of fresh, sliced fruits. It seems to be what people want more than the heavier, pastry-type treats. Although, to me, your desserts sound delicious.
Um...remembering the "Poppy's Restautant" episode of Seinfeld, you do wash your hands, right? Well, of course you do.
the only way i won't eat at a family member's house is if they are not a clean person
I think those people really dont like you, I dont really know what you should do.
look you cant please everyone your dammed if you do and your dammed if you dont,
its kind what your doing, so dont take their dissatifaction to heart
Sounds like they are being finicky snobs,,,,,,,,,,not worth the worry . Stick to beverages and chips and crushed ice next time .
make me a cake and I will eat it
Maybe they just don't like you.
