Pizza - The worlds greatest food!!
I was 4, my step-grandmother Ester is from Italy. She was watching my sister ( 5 yrs old at the time) and I for the weekend and she didn't have a TV. So, she taught us how to cook, which was her profession.
We made everything from scratch - tomatoes, garlic, onions, oregano, etc...
I learned how to blanch, peel, puree tomatoes; grate mozzerella (I ate more than I grated); slice pepperoni (see mozzerella); and mix dough (d'oh! -Homer Simpson)
We had so much fun doing everything that we lost track of time. Grandma Ester told us old stories during waiting periods, and we had a small flour war.
The pizza came out so good, crispy and gooey. We made many more visits to Grandma's, learning how to cook spaghetti, omelettes, all sorts of great food from sicily, mmmmmmmmm.
when i was like 10..i made my first cup noodle.....it was for myself bc i was starving to death...it turned out pretty good.... the noodles were not too soggy it was just right
Jello.
A friend of my mother's was giving me my first "cooking" lesson. No pot of water was ever supervised so intently, although I drove her crazy by yelling "it's boiling now!" at every little bubble.
(I didn't know what "boiling" was -- she told me it was when the water got hot and bubbled.)
can't remember age exactly..but know I stood on a chair. Grill chse, no bake cookies, pineapple upside down cakes... and could put a Thanksgiving dinner with all the trimmings on the table at 11.
I used to love watching my mom make me grilled cheese (for some weird reason!). I think I was about maybe 10 when I started doing myself. I wanted to make it just like hers. I think they tasted good but I later realized I used way too much butter lol! They were still good!
When I was only 10, my mom decided to let me cook my family's breakfast, which was eggs. When I cooked them, the yolks were a little undercooked, but I think it was okay for my first try.
I probably cooked things like hard-boiled eggs, but I have a distinct memory of trying to melt crayons in the toaster for an art project and starting a fire. I am now an excellent cook, but I definitely got off to a rocky start!
Scramble eggs , 12, my Dad, he said the were the best. But as I think about today they were a little runny. But he ate them, that's a Dad for you. be sure to remember Fathers Day next month, if your lucky enough to still have yours.
I was five year's old and I made my Mom a Mother's Day breakfast. My job was to make the toast. Well, I toasted the toast to long and they were completely burnt. Then, I put grape jelly on the pieces of toast, with my finger's and made it look like smiley faces. Then, when my Dad, sibling's, and I took it in to her, I was a complete, grape jelly, mess. But, she loved it anyway's. lol.
I hope I helped!
I was about 10-11 and I made an over-easy egg with 2 slices of toast. My mom and dad were right there guiding me through it so I could learn to make my own egg so they didn't have to!
Rice and stew chicken (my mom worked late)
I was 11

My mom use to be a chef and i grew up never cooking for myself. My first meal I cooked was when i was around 13. i made Manicotti with cheese & meat..it was amazing!!!!
My mom said it was better than her manicotti. I think she was lieing but being nice. haha.I made it for her for her birthday dinner. we also had a caesar salad and garlic bread
The first thing I ever cooked was homemade oatmeal cookies with nuts and raisins and they were the light raisins. It was a recipe from an aunt. They turned out great and I still make them to this day. I love to bake and do it as much as possible. I am always bringing cookies not just these to friends and family. I was 7 when I started. I was making them for the family and this Aunt Susie was there, too. She was proud.
Hmm, well, to be honest, I've probably forgotten the technically first thing I ever cooked.
However, the earliest thing I remember cooking was noodles with butter and cheese sauce. You see, when we were vacationing in Maine (an annual occurrence in my formative years), my parents made me this delicious dish which was this: Egg noodles covered in a sauce made from melted butter and shaky cheese. I soon found myself privileged with the ability to make my own cheesy butter macaroni. I recall making it on the stove in a saucepan. It turned out delicious! However, for some reason, even though it is a very simple recipe that I make to this very day, I've never gotten it to taste the same as it did in Maine...
RECIPE:
1. Cook egg noodles or macaroni.
2. While pasta is cooking, melt Land O' Lakes margarine in a saucepan.
3. Add a huge amount of shaky cheese (parmesean) to the butter.
4. Pour over noodles and eat.
When I was 16, I had cooked scrambled eggs for me and they did not turn out too good. Most of the eggs stuck to the pan and the rest was like gooey.
My dad let me make scrambled eggs for the first time when I was in first grade. I cracked them perfectly into the bowl, no shell bits, and I whipped them with a fork, kind of looping the stringy whites out as far as I could without actually splashing, then poured the mix into the hot buttered pan. I let the yellow soup sit, then slowly scraped a path through the middle, letting the uncooked top layer rush behind the cooked strip, bunching against the spatula. I loved repeating that until I had a mass of soft piles of yellow fluffy egg. Breakfast turned out fine, but I remember burning my finger on the pan, then holding another cold, uncracked egg against the wound so my dad wouldn't know I was less than perfect!
a fried egg. Yes it turned out well b/c i had seen my parents fry an egg before, its just frying an egg. to me it was sucessful lol. fried it for myself to eat. I was about 9 i think
When I was nine my mom left home for a wedding of one of our relatives. I was very inquisitive and also hungry when I saw one my mum's recipe book and I was bit shaken when I came to know that most of those recipes were not even tried at home so I thought of making some french fries and i tried accordingly as given in the book. When i tasted the first fry it was totally uncooked and the next time it came fine. I was so happy and I didnt wanna show my mom what i have tried on her kitchen so I put a few fries on the snack jar and gave it to her when she returned home... I couldnt just forget the look that my mom gave me that day... she was worried if i had hurt myself but no I wasn't and those were my best french fries ever....I am a big fan of potatoes ever since...
Chicken Stew. 13yrs old. It was during Home Economics Lesson.. the teacher graded me an A. it was pretty tasty..
I think I was about fourteen or fifteen. Kind of old to start cooking but mom was afraid I'd ruin something and then the food would be wasted...but...she had to go away before dinner time this particular day so she put a meat loaf in the oven and put the potatos on to boil and left blow by blow instructions on how to do the mashed potatos and gravy. I had watched her do it thousands of times so I was sure I could do it. I got it all on the table and it looked terrific; it actually tasted pretty good, but the potatos and gravy were so stiff my dad declared they could be used for paving the driveway.
I was 7yrs old when i cooked my first chicken bhuna curry and saag (spinach in garlic and chillies)
and rice. (more advanced cooking)
I was cooking for 7 people (my family)
I did everything on my own. Everytime I put a spoonful of the spice powder, i would walk to the lounge (or which ever room my mum was in) - trying not to drop it, i'd show and ask mum is that enough spice, salt etc.
Thats how i learnt how much spice to put in etc.
(in indian cooking, we never measure the ingreidient.
It was absolutley delicious. everyone was so pleased and surprised i cooked it.
and from then, i carried on cooking. i learnt to cook pretty much all the curries now.
Mum was pleased, as it meant she gets break from the cooking every now and then.
Besides i love cooking, so i didnt mind it.
Although lot people do like my cooking - you can never beat mums cooking.

I placed the biscuits in a pan......used a spoon to make indents and filled them with chopped meat i cooked with barbeque sauce......they were delicious.........in two weeks, my mom bought some biscuits and sauce and meat and told me I'm making dinner.......I have never been prouder in my life........cause my dad was a chef and my mom knew I could cook....lol
