Curry Curcumin?

What is the difference between Curry and Curcumin. What can we do not to smell with that spice all over, after ingesting it with meals, as it is said, it's very helpful as a preventive way against many diseases, as Multiple sclerosis, or Alzeimer's?


Answers:
Curcumin is the principal active compound in turmeric -- it's also the one that turns it yellow. Turmeric is used as just one single spice among many in spice mixtures known as curry -- some curry mixes may even use little or no turmeric in their composition, according to the maker's preference.

Curcumin is also extracted from turmeric as a 'pure' form of 'micro-nutrient', for medicinal purposes, mainly still being trialled. I've left you an article from Oregon State University in 'sources' below that illustrates that aspect of curcumin's use.

With regard to the smell, turmeric is certainly not the strongest smelling element in curry mixtures, but all the different volatile oils in curry also interact with each other to combine into new complexes of smells. It's the nature of the curry 'beast': it's the point of it.
