3. They are stuff like carotinoids and flavinoids which are supposed to be antioxidants. Evidence that fruit and vegetable consumption protects human health is accumulating from large population (epidemiological) studies, human feeding studies, and cell culture studies.
If someone is pushing a health drink at you because it has phytonutrients, all they mean is its got fruit juice. Eating five portions of fresh fruit and veg a day will do more for your health and its probably cheaper too.
