Is Cilantro the most vile substance known to man?!

Question:

Is Cilantro the most vile substance known to man?

Answers:
yes it is...I can not eat anything with cilantro in it and have to ask that places do not "garnish" with it as it is horrible

Beyond a doubt. I grew some, one year, in my herb garden. I was weeding and my dog (playfully) knocked me into the cilantro patch. It was all over me and I couldn't get the smell out of my nose for days. I have HATED the stuff ever since.

Cilantro - horrid stuff when I first had it.... on some Mexican food when I lived in Tucson. Smelled like some bad perfume. BUT... I tried it again and again once more and need to be honest with you.... I really like it now. I use it when I make ceviche or when making tripe soup.

ru kidding? I use it to season my food often. Cilantro is one of the best tasting and most unique herbs out there. Try it on a salad with a little goat cheese. Absolutely wonderful. I have also used it along with olive oil and garlic to rub on chicken, before cooking. Fantastic!

No, I like it so much I grow it.....
--Peace--

learn it's uses and you may enjoy it

it tastes like soap, and it is my understanding that either you like it or you hate it, there is no getting used to it.

I don't know that it's the most vile substance known to man, but it's certainly up there in the food market. When I graduated high school in San Diego one of my classes went to some really fancy restaurant to celebrate and the main course was a salad made almost entirely out of cilantro. It was the nastiest, most bitter thing I have ever eaten. My sister who works in four star restaurants in NY says that is not the way cilantro is intended to be used, but it's left a bad taste in my mouth for the stuff ever since.

No, I love cilantro. But for some reason I remember hearing once that liking cilantro is something in your genes. You either like it or don't. Check out this article. http://www.senseofsmell.org/feature/odor...

You know what? I hated cilantro the first couple times that I tasted it...I agreed with the person that said it tastes like soap! LOL!
Now, I absolutely LOVE it - grow it myself every year, because I use it so much! It is essential in so many great dishes!

in the uk its called coriander, and we just love it
