Answers:
Who cares

In my book one hair pie

i think there too many because there are apple, cherry, peach, blue berry, raspberry, coconut pie, orange cream pie, mixed berry pie, apple - cherry pie. probably 1,000 or more. not counting cobblers.

As many pies as there are foods in the world. It depends on if you mean sweet or savory. For sweet, the different pies generally fall into a few different categories: fruit, custard and cream/mousse. And, seriously, for a creative chef, you can put about anything edible into a pastry crust. It's all about understanding the relationship fillings have when they are cooked with the thickening agent. Or in the case of cream pies, how they thicken and firm up after the pie crust is cooked.

And then there is savory - a whole different beast. Meat pies, quiche, vegetable, etc.

That's a nutty question. There are tons of pies from sweet to savory. There are fruit pies, cream pies, custard pies and quiches just to name a few. The flavors inside these are endless.
