What is the point of lettuce?!

Question:

What is the point of lettuce?

I'm sitting here eating my sandwich, and there's far too big of lettuce leaves on it, and I'm thinking . . . if lettuce has no calories, and I have bread and chicken to fill me up . . . why is the lettuce here?

Answers:
It keeps the bread from getting soggy from the sandwich filling.

Sorta like the plastic shell on a diaper.

Particularly important if you also have tomato.

Texture, its crunchy. Color, it looks good as a contrast to the chicken and bread. Other than that I don't know. Throw it out.

It's all about the crunch. Of course sometimes those fast food places gip ya and put limp lettuce on and that, my friend, sucks the big one.

Vitamins.

Filler.

The illusion of healthy eating.

Well the real reason for lettuce is for roughage (it'll helop you poop) I know its gross but thats what it is for, Personally i like lettuce and things on my sandwiches and use it as a way to have less bad things like cheese or fried chicken.

Some people like it. IF you don't, take it off the sandwich.

I find lettuce to be very delicious. I often just eat it by itself. Maybe I'm just a tad strange (ha!)....I don't know.

It been taken for granted because we use it as a garish or wrap so often. It comes from the Sunflower family and is from the Medditerraen. It is popular second only to potato.

It is more nutritional than a weed..

Mainly for nuitritional value because its a vegetable. Lettuce is the most covenient form of green vegetable to use and it's always a staple in my house. I buy more lettuce than any other kinds of vegetables. I think it also has its own amount of fiber which I try to consume together witn other fiberous food. I don't think my day would go well if I did not have lettuce with my meals.

fiber!
