Well, it has to sit around and ferment for a while before it becomes honey; but essentially, yes it is....

Extremely technically speaking, yes, it is. It's a mixture of a honeybee's saliva and nectar from the flowers. Bees have a special "honey stomach" that they use to store nectar until it's partially digested. It's then stored in the hive for later use.

Don't let it bother you, though. If you think about it too long, you'll realize a lot of our food comes from... interesting sources.
