Why do they put holes in crackers?!

Question:

Why do they put holes in crackers?

Answers:
The little holes you see in crackers are called "docking" holes. They are put into the dough before baking to prevent the dough from bubbling

So it bakes through- they would be burned on the edges if they didn't.

To save money, If baked goods burn without holes why are my cookies solid. Cheap bastards

to stop them from puffing up too much
