corned beef is defined two ways.

1. corned beef as in pickled beef this is where the beef is seasoned with pepper and spice allowing it to be used in more than one days cooking as it can last for a while you just use what you want and leave the rest.

2. the other definition is the leftover beef not able to be sold when cows are killed that is cooked and tinned. this can be used for sandwiches, goes well with macaroni, cooks down splendidly with cabbage.

I remember a little place in London's windmill Street called the Nosh Bar where they served hot salt beef (corned)
on rye bread with the caraway seeds in. I am salivating as I write this just thinking about it. Unfortunately I don't think the Nosh Bar is there any more.Don't ever pass up any opportunity to eat salt beef hot with plenty of English mustard.
