Where is it safe to buy food for your family?
Asda fined for selling out of date food, Panorama exposes Tesco and Sainsbury's for sharp and illegal practices, how can the consumer know what they are buying when doing the family shop?
Answers:
My Mum told me about Tesco and Sainsbury on Whistleblower last night and I heard about Asda on the news today. I do all my shopping at Morrisons as I worked there for 4 years and know how strict they are on hygiene and quality. Worked on all departments so literally saw everything that happened in the store. I am 100% happy that they do not show the negligence that those others have done. Keep fining them, they make enough money out of the consumers.
You never know what you are eating, sad but true.
Short of going self-sufficient then you can never guarantee the safety of the food you buy! Some would say it is better to stick to small, local shops but I suspect the same things occur there as in the big stores as it is all about the bottom line!
we never use the supermarkets and always shop at our local market and use only one family run butchers who know us now but even then what does that prove?
I always use the supermarkets. The bigger the better. More turnover equals fresher food. Nothing is certain but there are rules and I think most companies follow them.
cant trust any where ,sell you anything to make money best to grow and make your own but that's easier said than done, well done for looking after your family good luck
the consumer can only go with what it says on the packaging so just keep a sharp eye out for anything that you might not be happy with etc the sell by and use date , and also check the packaging for any damage check tin products are not dint ed other foods that come it sealed packaging etc fresh meats , cooked meets cheese pastry item , which you can see the food give it the once over look out for the colour the texture even smell and if you are not happy with your finding simply leave on the selves and reported it too the manager
Supermarket
I don't think any place is really safe to buy foods.
You have to be careful and read all sell by dates on them.
Then in the meats there are all those growth hormones , preservities etc. Veggies are raised with so much pesticides that you're eating poison if you eat them. So what is healthy to eat ??
