Question about Green Tea?!

Question:

Question about Green Tea?

I heard there are many benefits to drinking green tea. I have never had it and wondering what it tastes like. I heard it has a very grassy taste.
While at a grocery story today I see Tetley makes a Green tea Cammolie blend. Has anyone tried it? Is it good? Does it have the same benefits as regular green tea on its own has? I drink Cammomile now, and I like the taste, that is why I ask. I hate to buy it and have it taste like crap.
Thanks :)

Green tea contains antioxidants which have been associated with the prevention of heart disease and certain cancers. It also contains a wide variety of vitamins and minerals.
Green tea has a slight bitter taste, but it is a taste you soon get used to. However if you find it easier to drink with a flavour blend it doesn't really matter, you still gain all the health benefits. I have a friend that likes to add a little honey to her tea.

Yes, Green Tea does have many benefits and is considered a real tea because it goes through minimal oxidation during the making of.

As long as it's green tea, it will still have all the same benefits. They've just added a little flavor to make it taste good, even though I love the taste of plain green tea (it doesn't taste like grass!!).

ive tryed the new green tea its great tasting but you have to drink it for two days to really get to like it honest

There are two common mistakes people make when brewing green tea:
The first is brewing it too hot, you do not want to use boiling water, but water that is just below boiling.
The second is leaving the tea bag in for too long, about three minutes should be good.
Either of these mistakes will make the tea taste bitter, and it is not supposed to be! Also, most (but not all) green teas will look green as opposed to brown if you brew them properly.
I personally do not care for green tea blended with anything (except in the case of Genmaicha which is green tea with puffed brown rice) but have fun experimenting!!

My advice is to buy loose-leaf green tea. It is a lot cheaper, and generally much better. Asian food grocers will definitely have it.

I like the taste of green tea, personally. Having said that, sometimes I make one liter of green tea, mix it with one liter of fresh purified water, and add one envelope of lime-flavored sweetened powdered beverage. Then I refrigerate it. Although less than black tea, green tea does have caffeine, so this cuts it down for when I want it in the afternoon.

If you don't like the taste of green tea, you can buy it in capsule form. In fact, if you are after the antioxidant health benefits, this is more effective unless you like to drink lots and lots of tea.
