flapjack is a oaty biscuit cooky thing but 2 all the other people a flapjack and a pancake are 2 diffrent things!!!!!
In the UK a flapjack is a type of Cookie bar made from rolled oats, butter and brown sugar and usually honey. They can be made at home (similar to a pancake) or bought in stores ready made. You can get these with additional ingredients such as chocolate, dried fruits, nuts, toffee, and coatings. Flapjacks are an alternative to a cookie or cake and range from soft and moist to dry and crispy. Because of the fat content they are pretty high in calorie.
rolled oats and syrup and maybe a teaspoon of flour baked with chooclate chips or other flavourings.
Its a Australian non migratory bird.
Flap Jack [Dacelo novaeguineae] or better known as the Laughing Kookaburra.
Kookaburra is the original aboringinal term for this bird, whereas a "Flappie" is a colonialist term for this entertaining fellow.
The Laughing Kookaburra imitate the human laugh (ish) but also have an ungaitly flight which is perhaps the source of the (derogatory?) term "Flap Jack".
They are tasty too. Breast of Kookaburra, a little olive oil, some healthy sesame seeds, yummy.
merely a pancake with whatever filling you require.
pan・cake
: a flat cake made of thin batter and cooked (as on a griddle) on both sides
flap・jack
: PANCAKE
No difference in what they are just where they originated from.
See references listed below for more details.
to add to murcia's recipe, i prefer butter instead of margarine, but i guess it's personal taste. you can also add fruit or chocolate for some variations.
In America a flapjack is another word for pancake.
