Do people outside of the US grill out for their families?!

Question:

Do people outside of the US grill out for their families?

Here in the US, one of the few things that is popular no matter what socio-economic level you are at is grilling out (i.e. cooking outside) in warmer weather.

After all, all you HAVE to have is a $20 grill, starter fluid, and some charcoal briquets, then complete and tasty meals can be prepared outside.

Just curious whether those in other countries enjoy this pastime as well?

What do you think kebab means? It basically means grill.
I was born in Iran but raised in UAE... people grill in both countries.

Australians are known for their backyard barbies. So yes, America is not unique in this area.

Doesn't everyone grill out all year long? Here in Canada, I just brush the snow off the grill there you have it... grilled food all year long.

here in the uk we are just crap at this kind of thing, sorry but we are
i live in dread of the summer months which is the only time the weather is vaguely decent enough to do this, you get invited to go, and its the usual burnt on the outside, raw in the middle offerings of sausage or burgers, limp salad and warm beer. i hate it. i hear about the usa and oz and how they go all out and it just makes the uks effforts even more sad

Sure we do. In some countries in Europe you can have open fire ( like on the ground ) and you do not need special places to be able to do that

If you have a gas grill you can BBQ all summer long.
with a Foreman grill you can do it in the house.
Grilling is good for you reduces the FAT.
Here In KC we are the BBQ Kings.
Nothing like a Pork Steak slowly grilled until tender slathered in a Rich & Sweet BBQ Sauce ( Silver Dollar City style) and Basted in Budweiser...

My relatives in Greece start barbecuing (grilling) outdoors as early as Easter and as late as October 28. They mostly do lamb chops, veal steaks and whole chickens on the spit.

Easter in Greece means grilling a whole baby lamb over the open fire on a spit. Smaller cities like Patras, Argos and Larissa usually do them "en masse" in the village square.

in Hungary (Middle Europe)we do it :) (except winter)
its fun with friends and family, or both together, starting about noon, ending next morning..lol:)

I'm from the UK and got a BroilKing gas BBQ a couple of years ago. Its great and I love cooking on it. Most people in the UK dont know how to BBQ and use cheap disposable BBQs. They then make the mistake of throwing the food on when the flames are still roaring instead of waiting for the flames to go and just cooking over the hot coals. This results in burnt outsides, raw insides, and ususally a nice bout of food poisoning the next day.

Went to the US and had some BBQ brisket from Famous Dave's last year, God I wish I could cook that on my grill. It was amazing.

I suppose here in Canada it's just as popular although like the northern USA, we just have a shorter season. From my friends in the UK it seems they don't as much unless they have a big backyard (or garden as they call it) Aussies seem to enjoy it as much based on my experiences. Tailgating though seems more popular in the US than Canada, and we don't seem to cook as wide a range of items as the US particularily in the South. BBQ seems like a religion down there.

im from goa(india) .. we do have a lot of barbeque parties here throughout the year... but in the rest of india its not so popular. In the north of india we have a lot of tandoori.. its almost the same
