Answers:
The best charcoal is lump charcoal made from the willow tree. It is very hard to find. Usually from a store that specializes in grills and charcoal. You can do a web search for it or go to:

http://www.amazon.com/milazzo-industries...

Yes it does make a great difference. The stuff you get at the grocery store has coal and clay as additives to help it burn and hold together. The ones that have a fuel built in so you can light with just a match are the worse. They leave the odor of that fire starter in your food.

The best way to start any charcoal is with a charcoal chimney. You put the charcoal in and a crumbled up piece of newspaper underneath, In twenty minutes you have hot charcoal.
You can find them at your local hardware store or go to this web site:

If I had to buy the store stuff, first try to find lump, then I would go with Kingsford. If you do get Kingsford, let the brickettes get covered completely with white ash before you put your food on the grill. This will burn off the coal, and leave you with wood charcoal and the clay binder.

Have fun!

I like Match Lite or Jack Daniels

Kingsford charcoal briquettes. they are the best to use.

I really like Kingsford Match Light for general cooking but if I have to add charcoal during the cooking process I'd rather use Kingsford non-matchlight hickey charcoal.

I do a lot of true slow cook BBQ. For the best flavor I use a natural lump charcaol. ANy brand is good. It doesn't use caly or any type of glue material that briquette style charcoal uses, ask any BBQ nut they'll tell you the same. You'll notice the difference in the first bite. Also, light the coals in a"chimney" avoiding a petroleum based fluid. All these items can be found anywhere they sell grills.

Kingsford, hands down. Better taste and easier lighting.

90% of people don't really smoke their meat in the BBQ because it is in the cooker 5 -6 minuets and that is a giant waste of time and money
Use a gas grill ,,,your Finest Resturants do.
Who likes ashes on their meat???

Kingsford is crap! Try using Royal Oak, or even in a pinch go to Wal Mart and get Sam's Choice 60% bigger bricks. It really does matter when it comes to burn time, ash and Junky fillers in other brands. Happy BBQ'ing!
