It's not really ideal for grilling. Chuck makes a great pot roast though! You would be better off using top sirloin or better yet, rib eyes - my favorite - if you want to grill.

Not ideally, chuck is a very tough cut of meat and more suitable for braising. But if you grill it and slice it very thinly across the grain it should be fine.

This cut of meat is much better as a slow cooked meat (roast, etc) It would be tough cooked on a grill.

No it is not there is too much connective tissue in the meat. Which will make it tough to chew on when cooking it so quickly when grilling. Chuck is best used for stews or dishes that require a long time to cook.

The only exception is if you grind it up with equal parts of a tenderloin. Make awesome burgers out of them. Just make sure you don't grind it up too much. Another thing you can do with it ground up is meatloaf.

If your looking for a cheap piece of steak for grilling. Flank or skirt steak is good. Cook it medium rare to medium. Cut it up and spread out like a fan over some nice side dishes like mashed potatoes or grilled vegetables. You'll feel like your dinning out at a fancy restaurant.
Just make sure you cut the meat against the grain and on a angle. One the meat tastes more tender when you cut against the grain. Two it looks like the steak was cut from a thicker cut of steak when you cut at a angle.

Although it is not the best cut for grilling, you can IF you marinate it!!

Use a marinade with an acid base (vinegar, wine, etc....) and some oil, then let it 'sit' for at least 2 hours.

Chuck is an economical cut....and therefore it will be tough if grilled without marinating!

Make sure not to overcook it when grilling, either. It will be more tender if you don't cook past medium (hot pink interior).

Not the choicest cut but marinate it in lemon & lime and some vinegar. Grill it or broil it . Serve it on heated tortillas with beans, cheese and pico de gallo.

saute a bunch of sliced onions in oil til soft and juusst turning brown. adding a healthy pinch of kosher salt while sauteeing the onions will help bring out there moisture and quicken the process. it also makes the onions yummy. place the chuck steaks into the onions. add a small amount of liquid, (remember, water has no flavor. try wine or stock) cover tightly, and cook about half an hour over low heat. turn steaks and cook an additional fifteen minutes uncovered til all moisture is gone and the pan makes a sizzly noise.(back to saute sound, not simmer sound) season w/salt and fresh cracked pepper. serve with "smashed potatoes"
