Where can I buy cheap salmon roe (fish eggs/ Ikura/ caviar)?!

Question:

Where can I buy cheap salmon roe (fish eggs/ Ikura/ caviar)?

I want to make ikura sushi, but can't buy salmon roe locally. Such a bummer- I could buy it in the east coast at some fish markets and at russian grocery stores, but in the south it's nowhere to be found.

I've found some places on the internet, but shipping is a killer. Anybody have any thoughts, both on the inexpensive places to buy it and who carries the best quality salmon roe.

Thanks guys!

Answers:
it depends on where you live. the sushi-grade salmon roe is indeed a little expensive, and you are right, shipping is a killer.
the stuff you buy in stores is waaaaaaay oversalted and, at least to me unacceptable for good sushi.
I use Northern Haserot (a company which supplies foods to restaurants) their suppliers have never disappointed me, stuff I ordered through their suppliers was always A1.
Give them a holler, they will put you in touch with reputable supplier. If they do not service your area ask and contact a similar company.

I own and run an Asian restaurant.

where do you live?

eewww why would you eat fish?

Costco!!!

Ask the Fish Monger at the supermarket he/she would know . Usually you can get them at an Imported food store. It doesn't need to be Russian caviar !

Call up your local Costco. It's possible they may carry it and I guarantee you it will be a large helping for a good price! Good luck!
