Bugs in flour, are they poisonous if you eat them?!

Question:

Bugs in flour, are they poisonous if you eat them?

Answers:
I don't think so but YUCK why would you want to?

Probably not, but I would suggest you don't eat them. They might make you sick!

YEAH YOU'LL DIE!!!

That's so nasty. Hey, are they good???

They're weevils.

bugs in flour means flour gone off!! dont eat them or you will be sick.

Buy some new flour. But at the same time, the bugs could have ebola or some other not-pleasant component.

No....they are weevils. Not poisonous in fact they are protein!

Just not nice to find in your dumplings!

Noun: flour weevil flawr 'weevul
An insect that infests flour and stored grains
- flour beetle

Derived forms: flour weevils

Type of: darkling beetle, darkling groung beetle, tenebrionid

You could use a fine weaved seive and save the flour and throw the bugs/larvae but you will not be able to filter out the eggs which are minute. Thinking about it would you really want to eat flour that has had weevils 'getting it on'!!!! They eat the flour then they go to the toilet in it.....and have sex and lay eggs in it....hmmmmm......best to buy a NEW bag hon'!!!

YOUR FLOUR IS OUT OF DATE

NOT poison. Bugs have protein anyway
Find a good recipe for that flour

Those bugs may be weevils. While we here in the U.S. (as well as perhaps in the UK, etc.) are used to having fresh flour at our disposal, the bugs may not harm you as you'd think. People in other countries sometimes have these bugs and just deal with it.

Once you cook the flour, those bugs die anyway. I know, gross huh? But do you know how many bug parts are in our commercial cereals? Please don't say, "none". You'd be mistaken!

All that said, I'd throw out the flour, too. I actually store my flour in the refrigerator to help prevent this.

No. But I wouldn't want to eat them.

They are called weavels.

In EVERY bag of flour you buy there are weavel eggs. (they're are also in certain cereals and oat meals) The best thing to do is when you buy a bag of flour, stick it in the freezer for a few hours. That will kill the weavels, and they won't hatch. It's gross to think about, but it's true.

Once you see the weavels in your flour, the best thing to do is just toss it out. If you've seen one or two, there are hundreds you don't see.

Dunno but if you cook them they die anyway and they are full of protein. lol

I'm not sure, it depends on what the bugs were. I would throw the flour away as soon as possible! Yuk!

They are weevils, don't be alarmed. The eggs are crackers, bread, anything with flour. Best bet is to sift it and use it (throw out what is left in the sifter). The next time you buy flour put it in your freezer for 1 month and you will NOT have weevils.

They are weevils. I'm not sure of how poisonous they are, but I can say that the flour is very old!

Flour is $1.80 a bag here, I don't see how you can afford internet access and not a fresh bag of flour.

we eat them all the time.

Well I had a plague once.
I remove all the Kitchen stuff out side
and bug bombed my kitchen
Then anything like flour, rice, oatmeal ++
was stored in coffee cans with their plastic lids or rubber-made, tupperware storage stuff.

NOW!! yes the eggs, feces and dead bugs, can give you the runs you can't believe. kill you?? are you allergic??
anaphylactic shock can kill you

the local councils are putting bugs every where now''@@@@

i have never seen bugs in flour, i wouldn't use it if i were you as it is not supposed to be there.

you only get them because you have had the flour a long time.i would throw it away.

thats gross! hehahaa
