You shouldn't, be careful how you cook them, you don't want to load them with butter or anything. Also don't eat fatty meats, stick with chicken.
Gaining weight depends on your calorie in-take
depends on your metabolism. I can eat one burger and gain five pounds...my brother can eat three and lose five pounds. if you just eat vegies and proteins...your doing the atkins diet.

Meats can put on weight, but eaten in 4-6 oz amounts daily, will keep the person trim. Fruits and veggies in general are fiber with lots of health b benefits, lots of water, and put on little weight.
If you eat to excess, you can gain weight no matter what you eat. Eating healthy is good, but dont over do it like say, eat an entire bag of apples. You will gain weight!
most people get it from genetics, but if you eat bad foods all day and never exercise you have better chances at becoming fat

These food groups in and of themselves in this grouping could very well be a basis for a good diet...but you must also exercise moderately and keep these food groups in the proper proportions. A good diet containing only these food groups would look like this: fruits/vegetables: 70%; proteins: 30%. Even without a significant grain source, if you vary your vegetables and if you limit your proteins to legumes and non-meat sources (a vegan diet), you will have an excellent diet that will contain all the necessary amino acids, vitamins, minerals to ensure excellent health and stamina.
I am a vegan for many years and I can attest to the value of having a diet with the 30% protein (only plant sources here) and 70% vegetable/fruit ratio. I have the stamina and health of a 20 year old and my weight loss of 3 pounds a month will ensure that this weight STAYS off. Try to limit your caloric intake to 1800 calories a day to ensure at LEAST the 3 pounds weight loss a month. Include starchy vegetables in your ratio...these include sweet potatoes, carrots and corn. Make sure you get 10 servings or more a day of fruits and vegetables. Take a good multivitamin/multimineral each day, too. Drink at least 10, 8 oz. glasses of water, unsweetened green or white tea and pure fruit juice a day. Try to walk 30 minutes a day for 5 days out of the 7 and incorporate yoga into your routine. If you can't walk outdoors, get a pedometer and aim for 10,000 steps each day in housework or yard work. This will equal 2 miles walking a day which will help ensure good cardiovascular health.
