Why does salsa burn your tounge forever?
Answers:
Drink milk or mix sour cream into it. The dairy fats react with the capsaicin (sp?) in the salsa and make the spicyness calm down! :)
drink milk with it
then the burn goes away
as far as I know, it doesn't.
no it doesn't, but instead add some sour cream
Hot peppers have oils in them that stay around in your mouth for a while. Other herbal hot spices (horse radish, wasabi) are not oily and can be cleansed from the pallet rather quickly. With these you will feel a quick burn (maybe in the membranes in your nose too) and then it is gone when you swallow.
It's because of the acid in the vegetables used to make salsa. If you drink milk or pop, it will wash that acid away and take away the burn. Don't drink water - that will just flow over the acid and not take away the burn.
The chili peppers used to give it it's special Mexican , Spanish, Indian, Oriental, flavor,,, has a chemical ,, (capsaicin) of such toxic volume, they have invented a scale to rank the pain (heat factor).
And many people make fun of the whole thing.
But I have seen thier babies cry in PAIN, eating the adults food. Sorry!
Our mom taught us the lick a lemon
if it burns
trick.
It worked for us.
