To really figure out if a tomato is a fruit or vegetable, you need to know what makes a fruit a fruit, and a vegetable a vegetable. The big question to ask is, DOES IT HAVE SEEDS?
If the answer is yes, then technically, you have a FRUIT. This, of course, makes your tomato a fruit. It also makes cucumbers, squash, green beans and walnuts all fruits as well. VEGETABLES such as, radishes, celery, carrots, and lettuce do NOT have seeds (that are part of what we eat) and so they are grouped as vegetables.
Now don't go looking for tomatoes next to the oranges in your grocery stores. Certain fruits like tomatoes and green beans will probably always be mostly referred to as "vegetables" in today's society.
its a fruit theres seeds in it lol
It's a fruit.
It's a fruit.
It tastes like a veggie, but it is a fruit. Fruits are seed bearing, veggies, not so much. Hope this helps!
Technically its a fruit, but we eat it like a vegatable, same as avocadoes. They also have more vitamin C than oranges.
Ive heard its a fruit becasue it has seeds on the inside. But that would make alot of other foods fruits to. So i dont know let me know when you find out for sure.
Technicaly it is a fruit
I think tomato is a vegetable just by the way it is grown, like a vegetable. Also, it is related to the eggplant, but we'd never consider the eggplant a fruit. Most fruit grows on trees. I know there are some exceptions, like watermelon, but I hope I solved this for good... Anyway. Breadfruit is a fruit, but we eat it like a sweet potato, ( you don't know what you're missing until you try a breadfruit)
technically it's called a fruit - - - i will never believe it though - - i will never eat peaches, pears, apples, grapes on bread.
tomato sandwich - - i'm all for it
fruit
Yes, it is a fruit. I used to wonder that too
Well the diffrence between a fruit and a vegetable is that a vegetable doesn't have seed, but, fruit does, and since tomatos have seeds, then it would be a fruit.
fruit
When I was little- 6or 7, our neighbor, Mr. Wilson, a master gardener, told me if something gets it's seeds from inside it is a fruit. If something flowerd to get it's seeds, it is a vegetable. So by that logic, a tomato is a fruit. However, congress years ago determined tomato to be a vegetable. Guess they know because so many folks want to throw them at them.
it is a fruit, but it is sometimes classed as a vegetable (people who do that r stupid)
A tomato is a fruit as it contains seeds. However, one can find it commonly referred to as a vegetable: the tomato is the state fruit and vegetable of Arkansas!
Fruit!!
