What is sucralose and what does it do?
Answers:
Sucralose is a low-calorie sweetener made from sugar, so it tastes like sugar. It is about 600 times sweeter than sugar and can be used in place of sugar to eliminate or reduce calories in a wide variety of products, like beverages, baked goods, desserts, dairy products, canned fruits, syrups and condiments.
Sucralose was discovered in 1976. More than 100 scientific studies conducted over a 20-year period have conclusively demonstrated that sucralose is safe for consumption by different age groups. It is sold under the brand name Splenda.
Sucralose is derived from sugar through a patented, multi-step process that selectively substitutes three chlorine atoms for three hydrogen-oxygen groups on the sugar molecule. The tightly bound chlorine atoms create a molecular structure that is exceptionally stable.

Sucralose is an artificial sweetener known by the trade name Splenda and the generic Altern.
Sucralose can be found in more than 4,500 food and beverage products. Sucralose is used as a replacement of, or in combination with other artificial sweeteners such as aspartame, acesulfame potassium or high-fructose corn syrup.
Sucralose is the most heat-stable artificial sweetener available, allowing it to be used in many recipes without any use of sugar. Sucralose is available in granulated form so as to measure cup for cup like sugar.
It's nasty. I don't know how it made it into our food chain along with lots of other junk the FDA thinks is good and "safe". And call it food! Ya, right...
How about a nice case of some fatal disease caused by artificial anything? I think not!
