No, I don't understand the whole sweet bean thing. I went to a local bbq shack and had some bbq. The bbq came with baked beans and potato salad. Since the food was homemade, I decided to taste the beans and salad, even though I hate both of them to begin with. Yuck! Why the heck do all bbq items have to taste like pancake syrup mixed with hot dog condiments or have the consistency of baby food! I would rather have the items you find at Kentucky Fried Chicken or Steakhouses...Baked potatoes, Potato wedges or fries instead of potato salad, and chili con carne instead of the baked beans. I kinda thought that bbq beans existed because back in the day, people may not have had meat, so they just dumped the bbq sauce on some beans.

I would like them if the sauce's flavor tasted mainly of smoky bacon and I might use a firmer bean like those in chili. Maple syrup sounds good as long as its not as sweet as the sauce used on the bbq. And the sauce would be less soupy, using lightly roasted tomato puree for the sauce base.

yuk i hate beans but if you like them go for it

yes l love them do you like boston bake beans

Yes I love them. I add ketchup, mustard, brown sugar, chopped onion, karo syrup, and lil smokies and bake them in the oven for 35-45 minutes at 350'. Talk about delicious.
If i am on a tight budget, i use beef smoked sausage or kielbasa pieces instead of the lil smokies. =0)
