Answers:
I don't think it's addictive, but it is one of those items of food that help keep serotonin free floating in the brain- much like bread and nicotine- which can temporarily relieve the symptoms of depression.

No only to fat people

it is it releases pheramones in the body which is a chemical in our body that releases a natural high

Chocolate is addictive because it releases endorphins in your body, much like a natural opiate. It makes people feel good.

Depends what you do with it!

Part of it could be the caffienne in the chocolate. Or it could be the phyto-something or other that makes you feel good after eating it.

There are three things I can think of - "association" ie at a certain time of day or event you associate it with having a chocolate bar (like when passing a vending machine or at 11am during coffee break [like popcorn is associated with the cinema!]. Secondly it is hard at room temperature but melts in your mouth - making it appealing. Thirdly very good for comfort eating!

I know for a fact that chocolate contains caffeine, which is addictive. The source I am citing below lists some other substances, some of which are addictive.

I don't think chocolate is addictive, as much as the sugar in chocolate is addictive. I can take or leave chocolate, it just feels good and tasty when you have it, so, of course if you have some you will want to finish it as much as possible, but a few days later you can repent and do without.. The only substance I was ever truly addicted to was tobacco, and chocoholism is mild compared to that....

It contains the chemical tyramine, which causes the release or increase of the neurotransmitters dopamine, norepinephrine and epinephrine in the brain, which makes you feel good. When the dopamine level tries to return to normal, you start to feel 'bad', so you have to eat more chocolate to put the dopamine level back up to return to that 'good feeling'.

yes because of the endorphins it releases. it makes people happy and they could get addicted to being happy all the time.

as well as Pheramones( leaving you feel happy) chocolate has a high sugar content, pushing your blood sugar levels up giving you an energy boost.but the downside is,the levels fall, and you need more choc to give you another boost!

yes...
because addictive means loving something very much....
like shoppaholic, workaholic, alcoholic...and manymore

chocolate isn't addictive except if you make it addiction by telling yourself that you have to eat as much and often as possible

Most definitely it is addictive and also it makes your clothes shrink!

There are many substances that create euphoria in the brain and will become addicting.
Chocolate naturally contains many chemicals with these properties so yes it can be addictive.
I don't think there are many who are truly addicted (will die without it) most are just obsessed with it.

Well it has some caffine in it and also produces chemicals that make you feel better, so i would say it could be
