Why are only salmon cans smaller at bottom than at top???!

Question:

Why are only salmon cans smaller at bottom than at top???

Answers:
I guess they need to have a large enough opening to get the salmon out.

The truncated cone shape of the can allows the salmon to "slide" out of the can easier. Since this fish is canned, it is very delicate. If you had to shake the can or bang it, the fish would flake into small pieces. When they stay in their two or three long sections, it is easier to removed the spines bones and skin.

You also lose the "vacuum" affect of an equal sized can holding the contents in.

I've never heard of this. When I buy a can of salmon it's evenly shaped, just like a can of soup or beans.

This is the second time I've seen this question on Yahoo Answers. Where are you located because I've never seen salmon in anything but the usual cylindrical can?
