my local movie theater uses bags not buckets and i can't find a bucket anywhere. i only need one bucket as something to put a gift in.

I'm not sure what a popcorn bucket is. I have a popcorn maker that looks like a bucket and it can be bought at most general merchandise stores like Wal*Mart, Target, etc. Or you can buy it on-line at:

I saw Alton Brown from Food Newtork's "Good Eats" use a thick disposable cardboard-like paint bucket for his fried chicken show and he said it was safe. I have a few here and they look the same as the ones that hold popcorn. If the theater won't give you one, you could always get one of the paper buckets at a home & hardware type store (home depot, lowe's, etc).
If you are talking about a large popcorn server bowl, try Walmart or Target, they have them and they run around 10.00
