How much ground beef do I need to patty 15 hamburgers?!

Question:

How much ground beef do I need to patty 15 hamburgers?

Answers:
Assuming you're making quarter-pound burgers (four ounces each; that's about average size for burgers), you'll need 3.75 pounds of ground beef.

You probably ought to go with a little over 4 pounds, just to be safe and have some extra on hand.

about 4 - 6 lbs, depending how big you want them

I would estimate you can get 4 burgers per pound. So 4 pounds.

in order to make 15-1/4lb burgers you will need 3.75 lbs
or
15-1/3 lb 4.99 lbs

depends on how big the patties will be. 1/2 lb would be around 7 lbs. 1/4 lb patties would be around 4.5 lbs .

I would say that each patty should be at the least 1/4 lb. which then equals 3.75 lbs. of ground beef--I personally make them bigger than that; but you get the idea...sounds like a party!!!

15#
one pounders !!
You figure the tiny ones.

to make a patty that is a third of a #, you would need 5#, 3patties to a #, 5x3=15
A third of a # is a good size and will not shrink up to much if you use 85% or better of ground beef when you grill them

Well for an average 8 oz burger you would need 7.5 lbs of 70/30% ground beef.
Otherwise there is 16oz. in a pound 8 oz. is an average burger size in a sit down restaurant. If kids are eating you may want to use 4oz.
When cooking on a grill, do not keep pressing the burger down....This will dry it out. Do what Paul McCartney said and "Let it Be." Cook to an internal tempeture of 160 degrees c. To be safe...However I cook mine to 135-140.

Depends on how large you want your burgers and what type of beef you're using. If you're using plain old "ground beef," it contains 30% fat, and the burgers will shrink considerably during cooking. I'd say use about 1/2 lb. of ground beef per burger. If you're using something lean like the ultra-lean ground beef (8% fat), I'd use about 1/4 lb. per burger, because it'll stay pretty close to the same size during cooking because there's not much fat to cook out of it.
