Washing Fruits and Vegetables?!

Question:

Washing Fruits and Vegetables?

What's the most effective way to wash fruits and veggies to rid them of toxins and other undesirable substances?

Answers:
Wash your hands before preparing food.

Because some produce washes are costly, wash fresh fruits and vegetables with distilled water. Soak all produce for one to two minutes to reduce the risk of food-borne illness.

Why use distilled water? Because distilled or bottled water has been filtered and purified to remove contaminants.

For produce with thick skin, use a vegetable brush to help wash away hard-to-remove microbes.

Some produce should not be soaked in water. Put fragile produce in a colander and spray it with distilled water.

Clean your counter top, cutting boards, and utensils after peeling produce and before further cutting. Bacteria from the outside of raw produce can be transferred to the inside when it is cut or peeled. Wash kitchen surfaces and utensils with hot, soapy water after preparing each food item.

Eating on the run? Fill a spray bottle with distilled water and use it to wash apples and other fruits.

Don’t forget that homegrown fruits and vegetables should also be well washed.

they sell a veggie scrubber. it's made out of soft plastic and you can use it with water on your fruits and veggies.

there are a lot of all natural products out there for just that purpose. go to your local natural food store, or if your regular store has an organic section, check there.

YOU only believe that dung..!
The junk (toxins) is shed by the plant,, just like you shake off the rain that has more poison
It is washed in the field,, it is washed in the store,, It is sprayed daily on the counter,, AND you wash when you get HOME..
Silly as heII right.?
What Cr@p you think you might find on it .. If it did not come from your refrigerator.. Or your dirty hands???

Normally I will just rinse the likes of apple and pears under the cold tap and dry with a tea towel. Some I will just peel and rinse

You can use a mixture of white vinegar and water to wash veggies and fruit . Make sure you use a scrub brush on potatoes and thick skinned veggies and fruits, including melons before slicing because of cross contamination.
