What's a good Memorial day dessert?!

Question:

What's a good Memorial day dessert?

Something easy is best.

Answers:
Scotcharoos

1 Cup of white sugar
1 Cup of light corn syrup (Karo)
1 1/2 Cups of smooth peanut butter
6 Cups of Rice Krispies
1/2 bag of chocolate chips
1/2 bag of butterscotch chips

In a large pan on your stove top bring the first 3 ingredients to a gentle boil, mixing well. Remove from heat and stir in the 6 cups of Rice Krispies. Pour this into a 9x13 pan and smooth out the top. Let cool. Once it is cooled melt the chips in a pan on the stove over low heat, mixing well. Pour over the bars and let the top cool, the chocolate/butterscotch mix will harden. Cut and serve.
These go really fast and they are awesome!!

If those aren't up your alley, I highly recommend going to allrecipes.com and looking up the jello pretzel salad, it is a mix of pretzels mixed with melted butter from the bottom crust, than a mix of whipped cream and cream cheese and than a layer of strawberry jello on top of that, you can put strawberries in the jello or not. That is always a huge hit too wherever I take it.

Something with a high amount of JELLO.

I love buying those little shortcake circles, and filling them with whipped cream topped with strawberries and blueberries. Its red, white, and blue, and super tasty/easy!

Strwberry shortcake is always good... just cut up strawberries, let them sit in their juices with sugar, make some Bisquick biscuits and add some whipped Cream... SO good (and patriotic!)

Simple bowl of mixed fruit with real whipped cream

Have you ever made the American Flag Cake? It's decorated with cool whip, strawberries and blueberries to look like the American Flag. I would say that's appropriate.

We make cherry delight...

Get a gramcracker pie crust and then pour a can of cherries in it and then take a tub of cool whip and add some of those small marshmellows to it...mix those up and then put it on top of the cherrys in the pie crust and into the fridge to cool for a few hours and ta da! yum!

Flan or egg custard or Creme Brulee with blueberries!

i saw her make this a while back, it's beautiful. i'm sure you could make any cake, and just a standard white frosting, it's the decoration that is good. too bad they don't have a picture. you can look up the episode and see when it's airing next. (looks like it's on tonight, the episode is "all american")

Flag Cake

18 tablespoons (2 1/4 sticks) unsalted butter at room temperature
3 cups sugar
6 extra-large eggs at room temperature
1 cup sour cream at room temperature
1 1/2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
3 cups flour
1/3 cup cornstarch
1 teaspoon kosher salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
For the icing:
1 pound (4 sticks) unsalted butter at room temperature
1 1/2 pounds cream cheese at room temperature
1 pound confectioners' sugar, sifted
1 1/2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
To assemble:
2 half-pints blueberries
3 half-pints raspberries

Heat the oven to 350 degrees F.
Butter and flour an 18 by 13 by 1 1/2-inch sheet pan.

Cream the butter and sugar in the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with the paddle attachment on high speed, until light and fluffy. On medium speed, add the eggs, 2 at a time, then add the sour cream and vanilla. Scrape down the sides and stir until smooth.

Sift together the flour, cornstarch, salt, and baking soda in a bowl. With the mixer on low speed, add the flour mixture to the butter mixture until just combined. Pour into the prepared pan. Smooth the top with a spatula. Bake in the center of the oven for 20 to 30 minutes, until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool to room temperature.

For the icing, combine the butter, cream cheese, sugar, and vanilla in the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, mixing just until smooth.

Spread three-fourths of the icing on the top of the cooled sheet cake. Outline the flag on the top of the cake with a toothpick. Fill the upper left corner with blueberries. Place 2 rows of raspberries across the top of the cake like a red stripe. Put the remaining icing in a pastry bag fitted with a star tip and pipe two rows of white stripes below the raspberries. Alternate rows of raspberries and icing until the flag is completed. Pipe stars on top of the blueberries.

I serve this cake right in the pan. If you want to turn it out onto a board before frosting, use parchment paper when you grease and flour the pan.

American Flag Cheesecake - I do this every year - Make a homemade (or box) cheesecake in a sheet cake pan, then top it with blueberries (for the blue field) and strawberry halves for the red stripes. Its gorgeous as well as delicious!

ICE CREAM PIE! It's ridiculously easy, and it will impress all your guests! You can use any kind of ice cream and any kind of pie crust, but here's the basic recipe for my favorite combination:

1 carton cookies and cream ice cream
1 oreo pie crust
1 bottle chocolate syrup
(optional - a few oreo cookies to crumble over the top)

The trick is to not put the ice cream in the freezer when you get home. Instead, let it sit on the counter until it gets soft. (sometimes it's soft by the time you get home from the store!)

Then you mix it 'til it's smooth and spoon it into the pie crust! (careful not to break it!) Shape it, put the lid on the pie crust, and put the whole thing in the freezer!

Overnight is best, but it can be ready in as little as 3 hours.

When you're ready to serve, if you're serving the whole pie, drizzle the chocoate syrup over the top artisically.

If you're serving each piece individually, I like to stripe the plate with the syrup first, then put the pie piece on it, then drizzle some over the top and sprinke cookie crumbs over the whole thing.

You can add whipped cream on top if you want.

It's a great summer treat!

Keep it simple: Apple pie a la mode. Can't beat it.

I love this cake recipe, it's easy and YUMMY! It goes by a variety of names: "Better than S*X cake, Hawaiian Cake, Summer Cake". Anyway, here's the details:
Cake:
1 box yellow cake mix
1 package vanilla pudding
1 can of mandarin oranges (with the juice)
Topping:
1 container cool whip (or other whipped topping)
1 can crushed pineapple (drained, but keep liquid)

Make the cake according to the box and add the package of pudding, and the whole can of mandarin oranges with juice. Blend as the box stipulates. Bake according to the box directions.

Let cool, and mix the crushed pineapple with the whipped topping. Depending on the brand you use, you may want to add a little pineapple juice to it. Sometimes I get creative and add coconut. You can also add a box of pudding to the topping, like vanilla, lemon, banana, or pistachio. Whatever you like. Just add more pineapple juice to your desired thickness. Get creative! If I add the pudding to the topping (it makes it thicker) I'll decorate the top with pineapple rings with cherries in the middle.
People always rave about this cake and it's SO EASY!

cheesecake.....yyyyyuuuuummmm!...

Try my pie.
Lemon Honey Pie.
500g (1lb) Sugar.
125g (4 ozs) Butter.
4 Eggs.
Zest and Juice of 4 Lemons.
Grate the yellow parts of the lemons (avoid the white pith as it is bitter), strain the juice, beat the eggs a little.
Put all the ingredients into a double saucepan or put in a basin and stand in hot water.
Cook slowly until thick and smooth.
Cool.
Pour into pastry shell.
Pour some into sterilised jars whilst hot and cover when cold and use as a spread on your bread.
You can make it more tart by adding less sugar.
