its hard to tell but live shrimp I would eat way faster than dead shrimp heres a shrimp creole recipe from before the civil war
circa 1851:

3 pounds shrimp
1 med onion
1 clove garlic
2 celery ribs
1 green pepper
2 tablespoons bacon grease
a half dozen tomatoes
1 bay leaf
some parsley
sugar salt and pepper
2 cups rice
small dash of thyme

boil shrimp till they float
peel and devein
saute onion,garlic,celery,& pepper in oil,add tomatoes,thyme,bayleaf,parsley... little bit sugar,salt and pepper to taste.cover and simmer this for 30 mins add back shrimp and a little of the shrimp water from boiling
wait 5 mins and if its too thin put a bit of corn starch in some cold water and add that at the last minute..serve over rice
