the main differences are one comes from cream while the other is manufactured and another difference isthe type of fat they contain

Butter is made from fat that is extracted from milk. Margarine is made from other types of fat, such as vegetable.

Margaring is a nasty butter-flavored concoction made from oils and artificial ingredients.

Margarine isnt made from milk fat, its made from vegetable oil usually.

well, margin is made f your healthy oils and butter is churned milk.

All I Know is Butter comes from Churned cows milk and full of Bad cholestrol and Margarine is man made out of trans fats and after eating it for 3 decades because it was suppose to be better for you its not! I went back to butter and take my chances at least I know what it is and where it comes from. (I hope)

Both butter and margarine have their pros and cons. Butter is more natural (and some would argue more flavorful), is not hydrogenated and, thus does not contain trans-fats. Margarine, on the other hand, is cholesterol free, lower in saturated fats and is increasingly becoming available in trans-fat free varieties. Whichever spread you choose, experts say moderation is key. Too much of either is definitely a bad thing.
