For children of the '60s...?!

Question:

For children of the '60s...?

Is there life after carbohydrates?

I mean, is a life without cornbread, mashed potatoes and fried rice really worth living... ;-)

Give me some hope and no-carb recipes.

Answers:
I know it is hard...my favorite growing up was fried okra, mashed potatoes and cornbread, carb heaven. I don't think you really have to do without these items just in moderation.

I have started eating more fish. And my favorite recipe is very simple.
White fish (any kind you like), fillet
tomato
garlic
onion
parsley or cilantro
olive oil

Chop tomato, garlic, onion and cilantro or parsley. Saute in 1-teaspoon of olive oil. When onion is clear toss in the fish, saute until fish flakes.

Menu:
Veracruz fish
Steamed Carrots
Heart of lettuce salad with pine nuts with vinegar dressing
Glass of white wine

Yes, there are carbs in this menu but they are good carbs not empty ones like cake, cookies, sausage gravy...

Good luck and enjoy the aging process. I'm having the time of my life. I now eat better, feel better and am more active than I was when I was 40.

Your friend from the 60's!

Personally I can't give you carb free recipes to replace the things you mention. I believe you can still have those things but in moderation. One of those things you have once in a while as a treat, instead of, say ice cream or cake.

don't listen to all the hype- it is dangerous to cut carbs
Just cut back what you eat at each meal and move around more. and if you are a child of the 60's get out your go-kart
