What is the best way to store bananas?!

Question:

What is the best way to store bananas?

I eat one banana each day but with buying three at a time I find that they go black very quickly!

Answers:
Whatever you do - don't store in the fridge, they will go black!

keep them warm

Buy smaller bananas

Hung up on a hook is good. You can get special banana hangers. that way they don't bruise on the bits they are resting on.

hang them in a bunch away from other fruit.

keister them

put them in the bin........................... sorry it is prob the only fruit i don't like.....................xxx

Hang your bananas.
Get a banana rack & actually hang the bunch on it. They stay nice that way.

SEe pic in link below:

Put them in the refrigerator and just buy a few at a time so they don′t become soggy and gross..

Take care !

the very best way is on a banana hanger

Take them out of the plastic produce bag and store them at room temperature. The bananas will continue to ripen. Storing bananas on a banana hanger or hook is the best way to preserve the overall quality of a ripe banana as it avoids "resting bruises." Store bananas away from doors, windows, exterior walls, and cold or hot drafts. If your bananas are too green, you can put them in a paper bag to ripen. If you add an apple or tomato to the bag, the bananas will ripen even faster.

When the bananas get to the desired ripeness, just put them into your refrigerator. The skin turns black, but the banana inside stays perfect for two or three days. Never store unripe bananas in the refrigerator! They simply will not ripen properly because the cold interferes with the ripening process.

Avoid refrigerating unripe bananas, as they will never ripen.

Stay away from the bananas - they are satans little helpers!!! I have a deep rooted fear of them....

lol, thats funny, lol, and I get points for this, thats even funnier.

keep them in a cool place
..

hang on one of of the banana trees u can buy or just lay on plate - do not put in fridge!
but yes they do go off quickly and not really a cure - what I do is try and buy some mixed ones - ripe for today and some with a little green on - so they will keep for a couple of days!

uhh buy them when there green just leave them out thats the best way to keep them fresh

Eat them all and store it in your stomach

well for a good place to store a banana i would

a. look for a cool place
b. look for a dry place
c. cover with water which they shall absorb and preserve for longer

examples. basement/fridge

The only thing that I can add is to buy bananas with as much green on them as possible. they don't turn black as quickly. Never leave them in a bag or sack. They turn black quicker then.

jus dotn by them, they are quite yukky

Do not store with other fruit. There are enzymes in bananas that make other fruit and veg ripen more quickly which in turns also ripens the bananas ripen more quickly. Apparently hanging them on a banana stand makes them last longer than layer them flat. Also do not store in a cupboard or in a fridge. At room temperature, out of direct sunlight is best.

I use a banana hook which hangs the bananas, reducing spoiling too fast. I keep the hook out of the sun in cool spot on my kitchen counter. I also find that buying bananas from different batches helps. In other words, buy one or two that are ready to eat now, two that are still green, etc. That way they last all week long.

Fridge. Yes, the skin will darken over three days but the flesh of the banana will remain cool and firm.

Try buying six and store each of them differently. I know you'll find the fridge the best method.

Try storing them in a supermarket they never seem to go off there !!!

Keep them in a cool dark place and they will last longer, Refrigerated is a bonus

The best way to store banana's is to hang them on a hook, if they are with other fruit they seem to ripen very quickly.

By keeping them in the fridge and that will stop them going black as quickly

in a fruit bowl.

If you must insist on buying something as vile as bananas, whatever you do DO NOT store them in the fruit bowl, as someone else suggested. Bananas have something in them that turns other fruit bad - you must therefore keep them separate from any other fruit or veg - the banana hanger suggested sounds like it would work.
Have you peeled one to taste what it is like when the skin has blackened - just because the skin has changed colour doesn't mean the contents have gone off.
I would suggest though that you just don't buy bananas - they are the food of the devil - they even smell yukky!

Only buy a few at a time, and make sure each banana is at least half green. Store in a Debbie Myers Evertfresh Green Bag ( Will keep for up to 2 weeks). On no account store in a fridge. They will go black, and taste disgusting!

Hang them up somewhere out of their bag at room temperature
