Silk Soymilk Named A Top U.S. Green Power Purchaser of the Year and One of EPA's Top 25 Partners
Silk Soymilk has again won a prestigious Green Power award from the U.S. Department of Energy and the Environmental Protection Agency. The Green Power Leadership Award, recognizes our role in using and promoting renewable energy. In 2004, we became the largest American company to purchase wind energy credits for 100 percent of its manufacturing and operations needs. Last year, Silk Soymilk extended the impact of our renewable energy purchase to cover our entire supply chain. And in 2006, we further offset the energy used in our Broomfield, Colorado, headquarters. In all, our renewable energy purchases over the past two years approach 54,000 mega watt hours, equivalent to taking 6,000 cars off the road.
In addition, Silk Soymilk remains on the EPA's Top 25 Partners list for green power. Top 25 Partners are those whose annual green power purchase is the largest, and whose green power purchase has been completed. The actions of the Top 25 partners help the EPA drive the development of new renewable energy sources for electricity generation. View the entire Top 25 list.
