How should i wash strawberries?!

Question:

How should i wash strawberries?

i know it's common sense to wash anything in hot water, but when i wash strawberries in hot water, they get mushy. should i wash them in cold water?

Answers:
I only purchase strawberries that are in good shape (not too soft or too ripe) so that I can rinse them properly without mushing them. I like to get organic when I can as I don't worry about the pesticides then, and just concentrate on getting rid of the grit.
I place the berries in a colander and rinse them with cold water. I then fill a sink with cold water, add a little ice, and soak them for 10-15 minutes. Take out the colander. If there is a lot of grit in the bottom of the sink, rinse them once more, always with cold water. Let them drain dry, or spread them out on a paper towel and dab. Always rinse them right before you are going to eat/serve them, however, as the rinsing process begins the degrading process. If you don't need to slice them for a special dessert, then serve them as is. The leaves/stem piece are a natural holder, and the flavors and juices will remain in the strawberry. If you want to indulge, put out a dish with sour cream and a dish with brown sugar. Dip the strawberry in the cream then the sugar and enjoy. Of course, a good strawberry needs nothing but someone to eat it, and is healthier that way too.
'Tis the season, so start enjoying them.

yes wash em in cold water...

wash them in cold water only as the hot water will cook them slightly

Rinse them in cool water and then pat dry with paper towels.

yes, with gentle rubbing. The washing process for food like that is not to kill bacteria, it is simply for removing dirt. You don't have to power scrub them, just clean them off.

Yes cold water in either a colander or a bowl of water in the kitchen sink. Apparently strawberries taste good with chili pepper or balsamic vinegar, but I've never tried that.

Place them in a colander or something that would drain and RINSE off with cold water.

Yes. Of course. rinse and blot dry with a paper towel.

Lots of cold, not hot, water!

Lightly rinse in cold water right before you eat them. Don't rinse them and stick them in the refrigerator or they will get mushy faster.

The best way to wash strawberries is to soak them in a bowl of cold[not freezing] water for at least 15 min. =]

wash the strawberries in cold water, then take the leaf thing off using a knife.

u should wash them in warm water its like in the middle thats what i do and add a special chemical to wash off the little bugs inside it.

Place the berries in a strainer, run cold water over them, shake the strainer gently. place strainer on side of sink or on towel so they can drain properly. remove stems. GL

cold rinse! to get rid of pesticides rinse the with vinigar, salt, and cold water. rinse well though! ps: for fruits and veggies, the best choice would be COLD water

obviously cold, and rince them and give them a scrub

Rinse them in cold water for about two types.
