Why do chineese people eat alot of rice?!

Question:

Why do chineese people eat alot of rice?

Answers:
that's a very ignorant question.

It is not just the chinese that do. Rice is like our potato. their form of starch but better for you.

it helps gain muscle and makes hair grow faster. lost of protein in it.

It's an abundent, healthy staple they can afford.

because its yumy ...but rice is fatting if it is white.... rice. brown rice is healthier...

That is the carbohydrate base that grows in their area, you can feed more people on less land if you plant rice. In the US and Europe, our soil is better for growing wheat, so that is our carb base. Its potatoes in Russia, Tarro root in the polynesian islands, corn in the American Southwest, and so on. Every civilization needs a carb base crop to grow on, if they want to build cities and the like.

This is like asking why Americans eat so much pizza
Or the Spanish / Mexican so many tacos.
HA

i think in china its custom to eat lots of rice. somebody told me that. but i cant remember who...

I agree with Dave Browning's answer above and would like to add that rice for the past few centuries has been the staple carb for the SOUTHERN Chinese. NORTHERN Chinese staple carb is NOODLES as it is derived from wheat which is more commonly grown in the colder climates rather than rice.

Marco Polo brought back to Europe (Venice to be exact) noodles from China which is what gave rise to the invention of spaghetti.

Or if you want the answer in another form.. why do they eat a lot of rice? Beacuse they are 1.3 billion people. That's why.
