Why is "wild" or "free range" meat/fish tastier than "farm-raised"?!

Question:

Why is "wild" or "free range" meat/fish tastier than "farm-raised"?

Two questions, really: (1) is it true? (everyone says it is, but have there been objective studies to this effect?), and (2) if it is indeed true, then why? I am most interested in objective studies that have been done on this topic, not subjective opinions. Thanks!!

The animals get more exercise and the fish don't spend there lives in fish poop. I haven't noticed much difference with the meat but there is a huge difference in fish, especially salmon. Farm salmon is much fattier and milder tasting because the diet is much different from wild salmon. I think it is more a matter of preference than better or worse taste, much like I prefer buffalo to veal even leaving aside the moral issues.

it will blow u in the arsehole!

Objective study on taste?? Hmmmm I wonder how you'd study that neutrally?

only thing I would guess, is STRESS.... put on animals penned up , treated badly and force fed, etc...

ever see them raise pigs?

chickens etc... would freek you out if you saw the industry as it is.

now does it taste any better? dont know...

It is true because the animals spend their lives with less stress, and more food variety. What they feed farm-raised animals is all stuff to make them buld up quickly.

Yes its true. Simply because of the diet of the animal. The more natural the diet the better the food will taste. Un-natural diets often consist of rubbish, impairing the flavour of the meat.

Best guess is that first, wild animals eat better and with more variety than kibble-fed farm creatures. Second, since they get a lot more excersize than caged animals, their meat has various peptides, etc. missing from 'couch potato' animals.

Not only is it tastier it's also much better for you! The wild or free range animals eat a much healthier diverse diet which means the products coming from these animal are much more rich with vitamins and minerals.

I would say that it's tastier in a large way because of what they eat... In many situations, farms will use feedlots and such and will feed their animals specialized food like you would your cat and dog (stuff that is MADE rather than just grasses, etc). Wild and 'free range' are surely going to just eat grasses, hay, etc.

I knew people that had a farm and.. while it was a 'farm' it wasn't the type that fed their animals un-natural stuff, etc. They didn't buy feed for their animals... They would put them in large pastures and feed them hay and let them eat grass, etc.. There were oats, etc from the farm in the winter and such (as well as hay, etc).. None of this "packaged food".. etc. Now, that meat.. was SOOOO good. If you put some store bought (factory fed crap).. up against their farm beef.. there was an amazing difference.

I also know that when I have had things like Moose, etc.. I have really enjoyed it as it has a much stronger flavor, etc.. Again, I think the more 'natural' the animal lives, the less of anything they're going to get in their system that is going to affect the taste of the meat.

I apologize that this is a subjective opinion, but it honestly is based on observation of the foods in question, etc. Just thought I would throw in my two cents worth.

You reject personal experience
YES
because they feed on a natural diet.
