How long does shrimp stay good in the freezer for?!

Question:

How long does shrimp stay good in the freezer for?

I have some shrimp I'm dethawing and I have no clue how to tell if it is good or not. Anyone know?

Answers:
Kept frozen shrimp should be just fine for 6-10 months. I cook mine right from the frozen state when I'm stir frying or sauteing it.

They should be fine as long as they went into the freezer fresh, and the freezer has been keeping them constantly frozen since.

Some people don't pay enough attention to their freezer and as a result the contents freeze, slightly melt, refreeze, slightly melt on and on. If that's the case, throw it out.

Otherwise, I'd say keep them up to about 2 years and they'll be fine. Some people would say longer, but let's be realistic. Shrimp are perishable.

Up to 9 months or so.

Once it's defrosted, it shouldn't have too much of a smell, but that shouldn't be your only indication of freshness.

It will usually last a long time, so if its not that old you should be okay.
