Welfare? Hot Crab Legs!?!
Welfare? Hot Crab Legs!?
I would like to know if anyone else has a problem with people using their Welfare cards at certain Supermarkets to purchase "hot" King Crab Legs and Alaskan Snow crab legs or $75 Lobsters? I know that Shop Rite does not allow Access customers to do this and I was just wondering if you felt that it was right or wrong?
Answers:
you should be able to buy whatever you want, but it doesnt mean you should use it all on a days worth of food, they are supposed to be paying for your childs food. I was on food stamps for a few years and i was able to buy anything that was edible with them. i was never rejected, however one place i shop at would take the food stamps for soda and then you would additionaly have to pay the tax on the soda in cash
i feel you, they shouldn't be able to get that
A $75 piece of meat is a luxury for those of us who have good jobs.
When you are on welfare, you need to buy cheap cuts of chicken, pork, beef and catfish; not to mention fresh produce and grains from Pic n Save or Food for Less or Murrays.
Plus, why would you buy ready cooked food...it's not like you have to get ready for work next week.
they seem to be more likely to buy name brand items. that are obviously more expensive. but they shouldnt be allowed to buy that kind of stuff...and people like me who are just getting by but have been told i make to much money to qualify but yet we go about a week with just pb&j sandwhiches
Who cares what they buy. Once they run out of money their cut off.
If they are buying crab, probably they run out of food by months end. Unless of course, they have other sources of money (also called fraud). In order for America to be giving it is often America is being taken.
Oh that's just the start.. I cashier at Wal Mart and every day I see welfare cards paying for 10 (count em TEN) boxes of crab legs, 30 dollar steaks.. 25 2 liter bottles of soda.. Its a joke.. But hey.. who's the dumb one? Them for getting all that stuff free, or me for working hard to take care of my kids?? Makes ya think..
I do understand your issue, but why should anyone be denied anything in the " free world "? I say get it while you can. There are many starving people in the world, yet good food is thrown away everyday, even in those grocery stores you named. Is that right or wrong? Live your life and enjoy it :-)
i am so wanting crab legs now. ummmmmmmmmmmm... but yeah i do agree it isnt right at all what so ever
you know, it's their money, they can buy what they want...if they only do it once in a while, I think they are entitled to, just because they are on welfare doesn't mean they don't deserve such food. I know, I know...we tax payers can't even afford that sometimes, but hey...life's too short to begrudge them.
Why should you care what they buy? That is very unfair to have that kind of attitude. So what you are saying is just because they are on welfare, they should only be able to eat and buy sandwiches and blocks of government cheese? Are you kidding me? People have such a bad attitude towards people on welfare these days. I know some people take advantage of it but there are other people that really need it. My mom was a single mother that did have to rely on welfare for a short period of time after she and my dad were divorced when we were younger. She had a job but it wasn't enough to help ends meet with three kids. She used food stamps and although she bought the essentials and did what she had to do to make it last, she would pick up some nice treats for us at the supermarket on some occasions. Thankfully things picked up for her and she got a better job so she no longer had to rely on welfare after awhile but I know she was very greatful for the help it provided. You basically need to stop hating on people and worry about your own self.
No one has the right to tell anyone what they decide to spend their money on.
Also not everyone who has food stamps are lazy bums who've never worked a day in their lives. My brother-in-law worked hard everyday of his life supporting his family until he had a life changing accident which left him paralyzed from the chest down. So now he's having to rely on the systems which he paid into for many years just to get by, yet all you people with your heads in the clouds don't realize there are those out there who can't do anything to get off of government help.
I agree 100% with you. I am tired of seeing people suck off the system. I am a pharmacist and see people picking up their medicaid prescriptions at the drive thru window driving an Escalade. Something is wrong with the whole system. I don't mind helping someone that needs the help such as crippled children, the elderly without insurance, etc. I have a real hard time seeing abled bodied sucking off of us.
