How do you keep an ice cream cake cold in a house-hold freezer?!

Question:

How do you keep an ice cream cake cold in a house-hold freezer?

From past experience i've learned that an ice cream cake in my freezer does not keep it cold enough, and after an hour or so, it will start to melt... I'm wondering if there are any tricks to make it colder?

Would putting ice bags all around it while it is in my freezer help?

Answers:
Sounds like it's time to buy a new freezer! Your freezer should keep ice cream frozen; if it's starting to melt, check the coldness level knob, see if you can make it colder. If not, well, then time to go shopping!

ask friend or neighbor if they could keep it for you.

1)defrost your freezer
2) lower the temp on your freezer via the temperature control

It should keep

Put it in a cooler and add salt to the ice. It brings off more of the coldness.

I've never had a problem with an ice cream cake in my freezer. Yes commercial freezers are usually colder than household freezers, but your freezer should keep the cake frozen no problem unless you're having a problem with your freezer. Make sure your freezer isn't too full with food so the air can circulate easier and make sure you don't have any food near the top where the air vents are. You usually put it in the refrigerator for 30 minutes prior to slicing.
