What are Chickens Feet used for?!

Question:

What are Chickens Feet used for?

I live in the City and often see odd foods in our grocery stores. One thing that I can't figure out is raw Chicken's feet? They don't have meat on them and the toe nails are still attached!!
What do people do with them? Curiosity is killing me.

Answers:
By reading most of the answers you already have on this question, I can see that most people are really not knowledgeable about chicken feet.
In Africa they are sold by the kilogram and are quite popular for making soup, or chowder, whichever term you prefer, but sometimes they are cooked over an open fire or fried until crispy, served without nails, (claws) with chilly sauce.
Chicken chowder is a tasty, thick soup made from chicken feet. Simply make a chicken stock from them by cooking them for a long time in a little water, adding to the water every time it gets too little, and when the feet are no longer in tact remove all bones from the stock with a strainer. Now add potatoes and other fav. veg and boil in to a soup. Enjoy !!!

haha.

umm. cantonese food(i think?)

but im POSITIVE:) that chicken feet are used in dim sums.(:

Some people chew on them....I use them for voodoo rituals ...

Chicken's feet are needed for Chicken to walk, not for people to eat. That's gross!

idk about that, but most canned chicken soup has feet meat.
do you know where jello comes from?

Some Asians love them, I have never given them a try, so I will just take their word. I believe they bake or fry.

they're used in soup, in chicken stock, in asia-style salad, sometimes u can bbq them, they're quite chewy, so people who love to chew might add this to their list ;p

Chinese make soup and dim sum with chicken feet. You have to have an open mind to try different ethnic food. My motto is: Give it a try, and if I don't like it, I won't touch ever again for life.

The soup is quite tasty by the way. They put peanuts, pork meat, fig, and chicken feet in the soup. Some of them who don't like the look of the feet sometimes put them in a small cotton bag before they put them in the soup.

The dim sum is one of my favourite. They have to use chicken feet that are meaty. Deep fry them to get that brown colour and puffy texture. Then steam them with black pepper sauce, garlic and red chilli pepper.

Be brave and try them out at a Chinese restaurant next time and you may be addicted to them like I am.

Ace ;-)}

so the chicken can cross the road

for stock and to chase your kids around the house and scare them whitless.......scary things lol
