Where does the Angus come from?
McDonalds angus burgers are so good, but Jack in the Box implies it comes from the anus.
Answers:
Ha ha! it's a just a typical Jack in the Box commecial taking things out of context. It's funny, but my household saw the same commercial and wondered who would think just what you did.
"Black Angus" is a specific breed of cow. Marketers dropped the "Black" for obvious issues in most markets, but kept the "Angus." "Sirloin" only refers to the part of the cow from which the meat comes.
Needless to say the word "Angus" sounds like "anus" so Jack in the Box used it to a marketing advantage.
It's sad, really because (although I eat at neither restaurant) if faced with (Burger King's) Angus Burger and (Jack in the Box's) sirloin burger, I'd pick the Angus every time; screw the name ( just an opinion).
You, of course, should eat whatever appeals to you without being mislead about anatomy or breeds. Frankly the whole thing makes me want to become a vegan.
Angus is the breed of animal. " Aberdeen Angus"
Angus is a breed of cattle
Angus beef is a type of breed of cattle. Also known as Aberdeen-Angus (from where it came from in scotland) or Black Angus (because of the color of the cattle), it was first brought over from scotland in 1873 to Victoria, Kansas.
Angus beef/cattle is known for its fat-marbled meat and its hornless & supposedly more docile nature.
To qualify as "certified 100% angus beef", the meat has to come from cows at least 51% black in color and exhibit characteristics of angus cattle.
