Able to prepare menus, order supplies for the restaurant, cook to order, organize the help, and insure sanitary conditions prevail in the kitchen.

depends on what your actually referring to.... the word cook means ...to prepared food for eating by applying heat....
if you are referring to the position of "Chef" which is usually the head cool over everyone in a large kitchen...but also can range from the Executive Chef, to a specialized chef like one who only makes pastries or doughs, or sauces, etc etc, you could also a sous chef which is the chef assistant...any of those would apply in any kitchen, but to be the best of the best and to obtain the better paying jobs you would need to go to a specialized culinary school, there are lots of them out there...you would need to research them to find out which ones you would be interested in attending or that fits your time and budget

A love and desire for the culinary arts coupled with some institutional training and work experience.
