How long before mayonaisse spoils?!

Question:

How long before mayonaisse spoils?

Our fridge at work is broken, so I wasn't able to put my sandwiches in a cold place. How long can they stay out before they spoil because of the mayo?

I didn't know the fridge was broken until I got to work (so I wasn't able to purchase other things). It's kind of cool in the room as well, and it was with a cold bottle of water this morning.

Not more than a couple of hours.

Mayonnaise needs to be refrigerated after it is opened.
It will separate with heat.
Sandwiches which have mayonnaise on them tend to spoil quickly also. If you are keeping thm only for a few hours before lunch in a cool place(it has been 90 here all week) they should be okay. I freeze a water bottle and take it in my lunch bag to keep things cool.

Buy some of those freeze-packs to put in with them, and you'll be fine til lunch.

You can also freeze a bottle of water or juice, and it will keep your food safe PLUS provide an icy drink at lunchtime.

At room temp, I'd say no longer than 2 hours. If that doesn't work for you, make your sandwiches with something that won't spoil, like peanut butter & jelly or cheese.

If it is hot in the kitchen then you don't want to eat them if they were out longer than an hour, but if not then about 3-4 hours.Bacteria grows at the fastest rate with extreme temperature change and most dairy will not turn at room temperature for short periods of time.

There should be an expiration date on the jar some where. Try looking on the bottom of the jar or on the lid. I think it's around 6 months, but don't hold me to that.

Be careful,I would eat it by 2 hour time....
