Thaw meant to de frost and make it soft so that it can be furthur handled for preperation,
it is done by keepin the food at room temrature or in a bath of water...

To let frozen food (usually meat) melt before cooking it.

as the others say,to Thaw is to put something at room temperature so the ice melts .
