Are avocado's good for your health? Fattening? Is it ok to eat one a day?
Answers:
avocados have oils in them but they aren't fattening like animal fats or processed fats. think of it more like you were having a salad with some olive oil. the fat in an avocado is really over-hyped. an avocado has about 250 calories that burn quickly. if you were having a sandwich your bread would be about 150 calories and harder to break down. once you put on the mayo you have passed your avocado.
not fattening and very good for you every day

eat the avacado, it's not like its a doughnut. best advice I ever got it to eat foods that remember where they come from.
THERE IS NOT 27 GRAMS OF FAT IN AN AVOCADO!!! ITS 4.5 AND 4 OF THOSE FAT GRAMS ARE GOOD FAT. Darwical, must of been a typo, eh?
if you can afford one a day, i don't see a problem, but it does depend on your own personal weight and health. i would if i could! sounds wierd but try this: cut an avacado in half, sprinkle just a touch of kosher salt, and pour a really good balsamic vinegar in the hollow of the pit. eat with spoon. it's really good.
"When used instead of other fats, Avocados contain nearly 20 vitamins, minerals and phytonutrients and can be part of a calorie-reduced diet.
When used instead of other fats, Avocados can be a satisfying addition to a calorie-reduced diet."
"Avocados are a good source of potassium, a mineral that helps regulate blood pressure. Adequate intake of potassium can help to guard against circulatory diseases, like high blood pressure, heart disease or stroke. In fact, the U.S. Food and Drug Association has authorized a health claim that states: "Diets containing foods that are good sources of potassium and low in sodium may reduce the risk of high blood pressure and stroke." One cup of avocado has 23% of the Daily Value for folate, a nutrient important for heart health. To determine the relationship between folate intake and heart disease, researchers followed over 80,000 women for 14 years using dietary questionnaires. They found that women who had higher intakes of dietary folate had a 55% lower risk of having heart attacks or fatal heart disease. Another study showed that individuals who consume folate-rich diets have a much lower risk of cardiovascular disease or stroke than those who do not consume as much of this vital nutrient."

Avocado is a very healthy produce BUT as for any other food, you should not have it every day! Remember that food variety is the best you could do for your health.
