How does one ship frozen goods?!

Question:

How does one ship frozen goods?

I'm from TX and living in NY at the moment. I really miss Blue Bell ice cream, which isn't sold here. I've been to their website, and they do ship orders but only in large quantities. I'd only want 3 or 4 gallons worth. I'd like to ask a friend or family member to send them to me, but would like to know if it's feasible... :)

Answers:
You can fed ex or express mail in a carton well-lined/insulated and packed with dry-ice around food containers. Contact a local ice distributor, and they will help out with specific packing instructions (and the dry ice)

What about dry ice?

Dry Ice

Fed ex

Styrofoam cooler and dry Ice. Make sure whom ever sends it freezes it real well at home. Store freezers just aren't cold enough. Pack in a large box wrap cooler in newspaper to insulate. And ship ups or fed ex over night. I have never shipped ice cream but did send frozen Tamales to Florida that way. Worked real well. And Had great Tamales for Christmas. Hope this helps.

Dry ice would probably be your best option. Its affordable, and convenitent.

From Texas to New York? very much possible. They could freeze it first and put it in a sealed styrofoam...Thickest box they could get. Your ice cream is in a container before thay put inside the styrofoam box. They should wrap the container with newspapers and seal it in the box. It will still be frozen when it gets to you. I did that with frozen fish from Fiji Islands. I mean fresh fish at 3: P.M . Froze them and it was ready at 6:30 PM . I wrap them with news papers to preserve it's temperature from being freeze and sealed it in a 1 Inch thick styrofoam. From Fiji Islands to Canada. 2 days on the air...still frozen when I get to my home. Sounds good? try it and you will have your ice cream.
