Can you tell the difference between páté and potted meat?!

Question:

Can you tell the difference between páté and potted meat?

All I know is that one is supposed to be gourmet and the other is basically dog food.

They're both dog food as far as I'm concerned.

And don't tell me I'm eating the wrong páté. The only times I've had it are in fine restaurants and my páté loving mates tell me it's very good. Bleh!

Spaismunky, how exactly can misconceptions be misguided?
I assume you mean that my conceptions are misguided. I disagree. I've had both and they're both nasty.

I can, but your misconceptions of both are misguided.
Pate and potted meat are basically the same but pate tastes a bit nicer and comes in tubs so you can eat all of it. Paste comes in jars and you waste loads because the knife won't get in the corners and every now and then you get bone. YUK!
I think paste is made of leftovers and Pate is made of livers, but I can't guarantee it.

LOL. I take your point. Maybe my misconceptions had bad steering. :oD
As far as I know, pate is made form animal livers and rusk.
Potted meat is made from minced up bits of stuff left over so pate is slightly posher.
I don't mind a pate sangy as long as I don't think too much about where it came from but I won't eat a potted meat one in case I bite a bit of bone. Blurgh!

My dogs love potted beef.

Personally, I cannot tell the difference. Lol.

=]

yeah your wright there both dog food

pate is smooth, and potted meat is more lumpy. ithink. anyways they are both nasty

Pate, to me, is more dense in texture, and richer in flavor. Both are goooood! My health allows me to eat neither.
