Which wine is best for a new wine drinker?
I'd like start to drink more wine than beer, is there any good starter wines to ease the transition?

Every person's palate differs, but I can get you started. There are heavy and light versions of both reds and whites. Blush is usually a red in which the skin is removed. I would try a bottle of each and see what you like the best. Here are a few exapmles to get you started. The ones near the top are generally lighter and sweeter, but that's not always the case. There are a lot of different selections out there and no two are the same.
Blush: White Zinfandel
Light White: Pinot Grigio
Heavy White: Chardonnay
Light Red: Pinot Noir
Heavy Red: Cabernet Sauvignon
I drink reds almost exclusively for the health benefit. It gives me an excuse to have a drink every other night. Hope I helped!
start with sweet maybe white and work your way up to robust dry red
Try a good Pinot Grigio for a white. It's got a fresh, crisp taste.
For a red, try a Merlot or Pinot Noir.
Red Rose' by Livingston or a White Zinfandel.
Personally, if I were starting all over again and just starting learning about wine, I would want to start with the two most versatile grape varieties out there. Assuming that you'll want to have your wine with meals, I'd start with Riesling for white and Pinot Noir for red. These are great with food or on their own. Other good, easy drinking choices would be Merlot (for red) and Pinot Grigio (for white).
The other piece of advice I'd start with is please don't go cheap. I'm not saying you need to bust the bank or take out a loan, but if you start with a $5 bottle of Pinot Noir, you'll probably be disappointed. There are tons of great selections around the $15 dollar range that will give you great flavor and pair great with food.
Finally, as you get to know what flavors and styles you like, I'd find a small, local wine shop and ask questions. Lots of questions. A small shop that can take some time and narrow the sometimes overwhelming number of labels and styles is a great resource and will usually steer you right. Have fun with it.
Cheers.
